Welcome to Valheim. This happens a LOT, so be prepared for it to occur over and over and over. Also be ready for your tombstone to randomly disappear as well.

Put on god mode and retrieve your items?

I would say, stick a portal close by (like on the edge of the biome), go nakkidnative and get, then flee like a howling spirit back to the portal-- Thats at least how I would do it.

Welcome to one of my biggest complaints about the game. You're pretty much screwed, bud. Get creative with driving the creatures away with kiting after you kill the deathmissile(s), or start farming your new gear from scratch knowing you learned one of the most important lessons of the game; do not wander outside of biomes and into new ones until you're absolutely sure you're ready to handle the transition.

press F5 to open the Console.
type imacheater hit enter.
type god and hit enter again.

If you want to avoid cheating. Deathsquitos go down in one hit from a bow. Just be the Fuling (Goblin) which you should be able to quickly take all and escape from

usually setting up a camp near by, sneaking and watching enemy movement works for me, moskitos cant be outrunned so I ended up in a similar situation too but yea, in the end everything worked out, think thats just part of the game, felt great to get back all my stuff after an hour or so of trying ;D

Me and some friends spent three hours trying to retrieve the first guy's body from the plains, and then the second guy's body when he went to help the first, and then all three of our bodies on the way to the plains when we died near a swamp trying to start a base to spawn at when we died again...

But man, nailing the deathsquito that had just one-shotted both of them with only one arrow from the boat on the coast felt great. Great game. Would corpse run again.

Haha, that same thing happened to me last night. I thought I'd try sail and see how big the island I was on went too far and got instakilled miles away. Mission for me tonight lol

I was in the same situation. So I came back, put a portal in a safe place but not that far from the ennemies.
Then I use a basic bow with fire arrows. Naked (with some food for stamina still).
Mosquitos will be oneshooted.
Goblins have to be kited so you need to keep some stamina to sprint away before their attack hit you.
You will maybe need to try more than once depending of your skill. But all these crafted bows will be recovered and you will maybe use them again an other day ;).

If you succed, all this will be a good memory else it's a big frustration ;)

Yeah a good memory till you have to do it for the 10th time.

Then you realise you lost all your levelled skills too.

no skill drain if you die quickly after you respawned.
If you have too much frustration, you can use the console to cheat (for god mode). It's a cheat but it's ok since you got your punition for your mistake already

i died falling on a non climbable, up or down, portion of the mountains. My items are non recoverable 90 hours in. The punishment for death in this game is too severe. The game was a waste of all that time. Complete garbage
