Once the trunk has fallen you can push them. A few times I've pushed the fallen logs to take down tress that are 'too hard' for my current axe. Rolled the logs back and forth into the harder tree until it falls luckily the hard tree has fallen before the log breaks. A slight slope helps a lot.

chop the trees with a shield in the offhand. When it falls, block the log and push it where you want it. Just don't stand right under it.

You can, I usually jump towards them right when they break to push them away from cliffs or water.

Afaict, the log spawns at the average angle of the original tree model then falls based on physics.
Trees themselves spawn at various random angles, some of them quite pronounced. It's mostly a matter of looking at the tree before you start and making an educated guess.

You can also force the issue by leaning a large physics object against the tree before cutting, such as another tree.

You can chop a tree and as it falls you can push it or block it with your body. I often do this to catch them on slopes and prevent them rolling down to the bottom.

I'll tell ya what. Not as far as I know, but do some tests and let us know.

I believe you'll end up getting killed trying to do that. Those trees are unforgiving when they are felled.

I haven't played since the first few months but they usually fall away from you. Now whether that is forward, left or right, just not towards you.

Haven't tried, but I would imagine they could. It's so very darn easy to roll the logs, even uphill, that they appear to have little inertia and/or mass. I don't know if they would hurt the berries. I do know that they do absolutely no damage to structures when they land against or on them.

They do however, destroy the sapling trees when they fall on them.

I'm almost sure it's random. I could never get consistent results like The Forest, where the trees fall in the direction you're facing the tree when you chop it.

I usually expect them to fall away from the direction I'm chopping from, but high winds might affect that. So if there's something I don't want it to fall on, I stand on that side. It doesn't always work. And I have no idea if it's just random. I always run the moment it starts to move anyway.
