Valheim today
How is it?
Its prob 6 months since i last played it.
Got the upgrades armor/wpn.
Got to last boss, got pwnd and never beat him. Im ok with that.
For me the thrill is in exploring and seeking new adventures.
After a few hours into the game there were not much more to see. I wanted to travel the sea in my longboat and explore new continents..... well there is swamp, meadows, moskitoarea and mountains again... and again....and yes....... 9000 hours of saling..... there it is again.
This game would be awesome with some new worlds to discover. New things to see.
Great game, but damn its shallow regarding anything outside the personal progression with skills and crafting.....
Nothing actually...

The game is currently at version 0.207.2. The reason it feels shallow for some, is because it's 8 major content updates from official release. Recently Mountain Caves and a bunch of stuff were added, along with bug fixes and QOL revisions. The news will tell you this.
Mistlands is currently in development.
I don't think other people telling you their experiences will do much for personal feelings. Some will say they have 1,000+ hours and is still loving the game. Some will scream bloody murder and say the devs have abandoned the game, even though the game received 26 updates last year, but people whining look solely at content additions and not actual coding as progress.
Ultimately, if you have other games to play, continue with those first and come back when the game is nearing version 1.0 or already released out of Early Access. That way, you're not inching into its development cycle waiting for new stuff to appear.

The simple answer - go to play something else ... I don't understand how this post was supposed to be constructive ...

a very similar game in many ways (light survival, explore, build, open ) is no mans sky. Every planet is 'unique' but after a while you are still going to see the same general things. Still, if you want to see something different every time... maybe that would satisfy. You already know V is going to have 3 new areas .. fire, ice, mistland, and maybe an ocean upgrade ... and that will be that unless they add an expansion or something. NMS is less about building (its fun, but pointless) and fighting and more about surviving environments (easy) and exploring (the major focus). I don't think this game is going to make each little island unique-- that is not really its theme. I mean there are still things to see and do, if you appreciate breathtaking scenes or interesting geography...

The big difference between this and NMS is Iron Gate marketed it as unfinished early access from the beginning.

9000 hours = 375 days of playing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week...but you stopped 6 months ago?

If you're wanting to play it one time through. You know, get from point A to B as efficiently as possible. I'd wait until it's released or close to release. If you are more focused on exploration and building then come back and do those things. Every update (which there's set to be like 8 or so?) you have to consider either starting over or modding a map reset. All just depends on what you want to accomplish.

Teh game was killed by the devs with H&H and their decision to port to console. There are better games out there that are worth your time. This one is not.

@Jc seems to be on a mission to tell everybody how he doesn't have fun with Valheim and thus concludes that everyone shouldn't have fun with it, because, you know, his opinion(!) is god! ;)

Well, ill point it out for you.
Valheim is a gr8 game. Content tho, is pretty shallow when u spend a some hours in it.
It didnt take long to reach the "peak" regarding crafting, and skills etc
Sure its early access. but cmon. How long could it possible take to implement some new stuff (which im told comming now)
The game COULD be AWESOME, but im afraid the new content will be finished within not that many hours.

I like the game. Its relaxing and fun to do some rp in it.
Farmer viking.
Im hoping for more content... ALOT of new content. Kinda tired of seeing the same crypts with the same skeletons, and shrooms down there...
