true, tho - it's a matter of discussion when there's a start for it and imo - before You get a barley&windmill - it's probably better to save fishes for later

yeah but it's better to have different sources of meat

i found a spot with 3 meadows islands and meat is crazy plenty. When you're not there all the deer/hogs group up in one small area easy for sniping. but once you show up they all scatter into the ocean. LOGIC

Neck meat is low tier. By the time you have a cookpot and are spending time in black forest (and especially swamp) you should have much better food options.

If u dont like farm pigs , the best way is hunting deers , u gets a ton in a trip for other resourses

In short- actually that's all there is. Aside from boars and deers - only the wolves (rarely) drop a piece of 'raw meat' but it would be nuts to farm meat in such manner. Necks drop the tails and later on biome called plains You will find Lox - sort of buffallo (like GunsForBucks mentioned - it's not that starting biome - meadows).

Keep in mind that better food lasts for longer, check the descriptions of food, stuff like fruits lasts 600sec but later - You will start making sausages (duration 1600sec) or the highest tier of food: fish wraps, pudding, lox pie, serpent stew - each with duration of 2400sec (40 min).

My favorite way is simply to take few wolves on a walk into meadows and let them work for the meal but it will take You a while to get into places where You can find a wolf (also - transporting them by the sea is a whole chapter on it's own). In the meanwhile - You can try to tame some boars and start breeding them, probably best to find some tutorial on how-to.
