Metal ores

Me and a few friends have been playing on a server and its starting to dry up. Is there a way to repopulate ores? I know you can farm resources through other map generations but I'm looking for a server side fix and that seems to be just a quick bypass to the problem.

Scrap in the swamps sometimes spawns visibly poking through the surface where there's a steep enough slope. It's not much iron, but can be a convenient early unlock for the stonecutter.

Iron is definitely the toughest ore to get, AND the one you're liable to need the most of. Many swamps have no crypts, and using the wishbone in the swamp is hardly worth the effort. It's a real slog finding the scrap piles in a swamp, and half the time they're under the water line. It's a real PITA to mine the whole scrap pile without creating a Pond of Death- you start swimming, lose your tool/weapon, can't get out, and get murdered by the mobs that inevitably jump you while you're mining. All for a few piddly scrap irons.

Good point. It should also let you pull the new content into your existing world, that's kind of its primary purpose. But yeah, re-rolling the swamps for more iron should be viable too.

Mine them in reverse, bury them almost completely except for one tiny corner, and if the hitboxes line up right mining that corner can pop the whole node from above. It happens accidentally with silver sometimes.

Thanks, will look into using mods on the server. Will make most of us happy if we dont need to make a new map for the update.

Scrap piles spawn outside of sunken crypts? If so, this is the first I'd heard of it, and I'll have to look around my swamps for things I'd missed.

Huh, look at that... Wishbone reveals something else, and the game didn't make it clear. heh. I wish the game would spell out, fully, what these items do.

For anyone who doesn't know, the Wishbone will reveal Silver veins in the Mountains, Muddy Scrap Piles in the Swamps, and Buried Treasure in the Meadows.

I'm curious to know how much of your world map you've explored and exploited, and which metal ores your're already running low on.

I think I heard any given map should have enough resources to be considered plentiful for up to 10 players.

Mostly regular iron. From the swamps. Me and 5 others have pretty much cleared it all out. I know it's a kinda a moot point since we will have to make a new server map to get the new caves to spawn. But was hoping for a long term solution.

What have you used the iron for? Do you all have separate, large bases or something?

Mostly iron reinforced beams. And yes. We have a large co-oped base and most of us make our own kingdoms. Central portal hub to connect it all together.

Granted I get a bit overzealous (I blame minecraft) I'm making a pure reinforced log keep.

Yeah iron needs to be way more common. I’ve found entire swamps without any crypts. I’m having trouble getting enough, and I haven’t even tried to make padded armor yet

Have you put your map seed in the online map to see if there is a supply you missed?
