Magical Beings

This is a cool game. I enjoy most of the aspects. The thing that bothers me is that there isn't a game without magical beings or magic. I think this game would be even more original if it did without all the magical tree people and magical bosses. I think a better enemy would be to fight other vikings, traders or invaders or villages. Be a raider and become the alpha of that village; that is the viking way.

One of the first things you see when you finally have control of your character after the intro is a giant magical treebranch flowing with Eitr (mana).

What you want is a different kind of game. Where you would, say, raid Christians in England or rival vikings. That would be a completely different kind of game without mythological creatures like trolls, goblins and undead too.
great idea for a TV series ..whaddya think ? :-)

You mean like the serie Vikings itself? Or where you refering to a series based on Valheim lore, wich would be good yeah.

I think the reverse is true as well. A valheim like game situated in Midgard(but on a rgm) with different viking bands, Christians(of various origins) and Eastern European peoples across the map would be good too. Could even make it into an MMO where you can choose your faction. The creature foes would be a bit underwhelming though, only bears would come close to certain valheim heavy hitters.

I think OP is on the right track, this game is just not what he is looking for.

A *very* long time ago there was a game called darklands (if I recall that right) set in medieval times with next to 0 'magic' (you could pray for some effects, usually to no result, and you could visit the occasional witch, often with negative consequences) until very late game, just steel on steel and a little bit of chemistry (eg acid could be made, and I think a weak fire bomb). It was really good, esp for when it was out (1993 ish?)

The viking themed game 'expedition viking' has low magic as well, a little bit but its largely bow and axe work. This game is very, very good and all to short. This one a modern game

Anyway, its been done here and there, rarely to a 0 extent but a few times to a 'near zero' extent.

Check out Kingdom Come Deliverance. It´s pretty realistic without any magic stuff. Not a viking game though but maybe you still like it. It´s a great game.

Want a real viking game? Try Hammerheart, that's actually made to be historically accurate.

1) This is Viking afterlife where you literally interact with the gods from the start (even if that aspect is a bit underdeveloped at this point).
2) If you remove Greydwarves, Drakes.. Draugr.. Fulings.. etc... what do you have left? Not very much.

You're asking for a different game so it won't happen in Valheim (barring some kind of extensive mod).

Luckily there are huge numbers of games being developed as we speak, so there is probably something closer to what you are requesting. As for old ones, I assume you know about Mount & Blade and its derivatives, not very much procedural terrain/crafting though.
