Bows are great for solo kills, if you are lucky some other creatures like wolves may come and attack the troll for you

Fire arrows are easy and effective

Woods should be fine as long as you're aware of your surroundings, use that to your advantage and weave through the obstacles to avoid the troll when charging your stamina. Piercing weapons as well are good for trolls (spears/bows)

I have found that when you mine copper it attracts them. So what I did was hollow out a copper rock and I stay in the hole and he can not get to me and fire arrows do the trick. Thanks guys for the suggestions.

Let it attack you and roll into it.

As it recovers, combo it.

Manage your stamina.

I use the bow. Its a great way to train up the skill. I do the same for aboms and loxes. The skill doesn't raise on its own afterall.

this, a good knife will do half or close to one shotting a regular troll, knife has a 10x backstab bonus compared to other weapons at 3

the knife does a small ammount of damage but you have to remember its being multiplied by 10.

they are also weak to poison damage, do with that what you will.

Learn to parry, and manage stamina. If you're parrying properly, and stagger the troll, you'll have enough time to deal damage and reset. Rinse and repeat.

I think that is my issue, I am fighting in the woods and dont have the room to parry well enuff, I keep running into things and he just stomps me. Thanks

Use a bow, they are weak to piercing. Lure it to the meadows and then kite it.
