Yes, absolutely fine solo, and do yourself a favour if you do play it. Don't use any mods until you give the game a fair chance without them. Mods can ruin some of the experience. Most of my 200+ hours has been solo, and every second of it has been without mods and without cheats.

Well, you CAN in theory, I have managed it in caves before when I had no choice (after multiple deaths). But their attacks are pretty fast and do lots of damage so you can't really afford mistakes.

Ideally bring good armour and eat lots of good food so your health and stamina are high.

I always end up just shooting them with a bow though - much safer!

I've been playing solo although not got far yet. Keep starting over as I learn new things! But single player is well balanced and you can approach it in different ways depending what mood you're in.

Fancy just chilling at home? Go farm some wood and meat and spend time building.
Want some adventure? Go exploring with your best weapons and armour and see what you find.

Just remember to mark things on your map...

And don't melee trolls like I tried last night.

Be aware that the patch planned in the next couple of weeks will modify the entire food and combat stats system, so things like melee vs trolls may suddenly become more viable, or less. Basic mechanics are in heavy flux rn.

You totally can play it only in Singelplayer sometimes its a litte bit grindy and the bosses sometimes a little tricky but its makeble. When you know how to beat a boss than you can do it.

If you aren't prone to becoming tired or bored without social interaction with a friend. Then this may not be a great fit for you. The world becomes desolate rather quickly with things to keep you going.

Otherwise just play the game while talking to a friend in a call or something and stream it to them. Maybe they'll just buy and play with you at some point.

Yes! Valheim is the best single player game I've tried in a long time.

I totally agree with this.
It comes down to how much time you want to put into a game.
I have 1300 hrs with 15 characters in 15 different worlds. All without mods. All but two of those worlds and characters were solo.
That said I have a lot of time to kill so i don't mind taking my time to play properly.

yeah, i have almost 200 hrs solo playing. just waiting for the updates now. especially if you like to build this game has some awesome ways to make unique buildings. i could spend 100 hrs just building an awesome village but i don't want to and would still be nothing compared to the pros that post their builds on YouTube.

The enemies are scaled well for single player.

So far, I've only been playing it single player too, but it's still really fun.

The crafting stuff is a bit confusing at first. But once you get it, this game is really worth the price.

I wasn't even a fan of sandbox games. I started playing this only because a friend recommended to me with the idea of playing together one day.
