I got mine earlier than entering crypts with a key (I had not defeated Elder at that point) from hunting Wraiths after dark in swamps.

Oh yeah what I meant was more the boxes by the spawners outside the crypts. Personally I play it too safe to go wraith hunting that early ha ha.

It's a bit weird that there's absolutely no way to make your own chains considering some of the things we can throw together with a couple of rocks and a stick.
