Trolls are a problem, cause they can swing a tree or a arm through the stone walls, hitting them and everything on the other side, spike traps don't work on them really ether, but Dwarves always attacking isn't bad cause free wood and stone

Well, once you got troll armor, the greydwarves mostly cease to be a problem, except for brutes.

Spikes do work on Troll, you just have to be fine with that you will have to do a lot of repairs on the spikes and palisades. If you do your palisades far away to your house and lifestock, trolls will not be able to harm them, as they will be stuck there for quite a while, giving you the time to kill them.

Palisades are more sturdy then they look like.

Not sure if there are mods that can increase spawn, attack and raid frequenzy.

Honestly, constantly under assault from trolls would get old reaaaaally quick, just IMHO.

And how do you gonna build a base with trolls constantly breathing down your necks?

It's the seed of my main, which has large black forest regions, might have to travel for that a bit, but there are smaller slices of BF not far away from the spawn point.
