Just fine the way it is, i would call it art-style and not graphics. Whats even the point of trying to mimic real life photorealism in games, did monopoly become so successful because it looked or is realistic, because its not at all, its a boardgame. Game needs to be fun, a game thats boring is much worse than one that doesnt fit your art style, there are a lot of games with "good graphics" collecting dust in my library, because well, theyre boring me out.
And as mentioned before, check out the first person mod :)

Terraria's or Rimworld's graphics come from the 80s, yet they're hugely successful.
