thinking of buying help me decide?
iv been looking at this game since it started early access and im debating on buying it the problem i have with these survival games is i find for most of them the game is based almost entirely around the base building and there isnt enough pve elements... how is this game as far as pve elements go? is there decent charecter build options? is there dungeons rare loot worth farming for?

I'd definitely recommend waiting, progress appears to be going at a snails pace. If you buy it now it's a decent game but I'd say hold off until there has been a few more big updates.

the game is great, pve is good, the base building is exceptionally good and the crafting fills the void on top of all that you can tame wolves although finding the 2 Star wolves are more trivial to say the least but worth the effort. buy the game and enjoy, best part is more content is still to come!!! HAIL THE VICTORIOUS DESIGN TEAM!!! this game is legendary, the music is amazing, the weather is captivating and wonderful almost too real, dont waste no more time get in this game and live the life of a exiled viking cast away to torment pain and death.

if you enjoy building stuff and enjoy survival games this is worth the money, i have played 40 hours and still only killed 2 bosses, you could follow guides to speed up things but then your get bored more quicker, for the price its pretty cheap for how many hours your be playing it.

Depends on the type of game you like to play. I love these games that do foraging, farming, fighting, building & exploring. Plus I like that others can easily play with you, like my sister. Starting now should give you a good feel for it before the update. I played tons but have backed off until the update. It is challenging though. With the help of my sister we were able to get the bosses & help each other in our worlds. There are a few things I would like to see improved such as better tutorial through out the game, and a bit of a smoother transition to each biome. There is a big change in how hard it is to survive at first in each new area. Even with that said I have put many hours into the game & can't wait for the update. It is one that I will play for a long time. Switching my charter to new worlds and exploring them.

patching a game is no longer updating a game? Strange time we are living in.

By definition, patches are updates. If you're referring to new content for the game, then you should be specific. Why are you lying? There wasn't a single update, only patches. Completely untrue. They just had an update 2 weeks ago and have had 1 to 3 updates every month since Feb.

In the event they make good on a regular and timely update schedule I'd say they deserve the moon but it looks like they made a super fat wad of cash and have not really picked up the pace any which is a super shame!!

You'll need to do a decent bit of building, since the game favors people who set up outposts across the map. BUT it is perfectly viable to go for function over form... It doesn't take much to get set up with a serviceable no-frills base, and then you're done. iv been looking at this game since it started early access and im debating on buying it the problem i have with these survival games is i find for most of them the game is based almost entirely around the base building and there isnt enough pve elements... how is this game as far as pve elements go? is there decent charecter build options? is there dungeons rare loot worth farming for?
Plenty of PvE, although the game loop doesn't change much from beginning to end (or, beginning to middle since the end is a ways off.) BUT a bit of patience is needed, there is a lot of gameplay to be had but it's clear that the game isn't finished and we're not going to be getting frequent regular content updates. (but bug fixes, tweaks, and balance adjustments are steady, with a patch every 2 or 3 weeks, some small and some huge.)
No character builds. That's one of my biggest disappointments, and something I really hope is addressed in the future. Your endgame character is going to look and play exactly like mine or anybody else's, with the only difference being possibly a different weapon.
There are a couple types of dungeon, each type found in their own biome but even though they're procedurally generated they all look and feel pretty much the same and their purpose is to gather specific resources that are found inside. (while fighting the residents, of course.)
It's not a perfect game, but it IS a fun game with a lot to do, it doesn't really offer much that other games don't but it does an excellent job of bringing in familiar mechanics to create a fun ride that could easily keep you busy for 100+ hours, with the promise of more to come eventually.

there is no looted items.
there are almost 0 character building... you level skills by what gear you wear, but you basically can choose your gender and your weapons. The rest is just by doing stuff.
its not that kind of game. Its like no mans sky, really. Light survival, but challenging combat (at least until you get towards endgame). Plenty of dangerous monsters until you have all the best stuff. That means the mid game is the hardest, as the beginner zone assumes you have no gear, and the end zone you outgear that pretty much, leaving the middle as rather dangerous. There are more zones coming, eventually. for now it stops rather awkwardly where you are notably better than the enemy when you hit the end. Base building is critical, not just cosmetic. You need the facilities to make gear to progress.

Wait for sure!
Dungeons are small and there to provide a crafting material, so no not really.
Builds are from crafted tiered gear like Minecraft + advance on use skills, so no not really. Correction, the troll armor gives a stealth bonus so if you want to sneak use troll armor.
Okay so that mixed with every quarterly goal being removed except for Hearth and Home which was pushed to Q3 (putting us half way through the target window and still no content update to play) I say save your money.
You can always spend money but you can't always NOT spend money.

If you're on the fence already, I'd just wait for full release.
-There is lots of PVE
-There is LOTS of building too
-Yes, you can basically not worry about building if you want...
-...for the trade-off that progress is gonna be SLOW and PAINFUL and LIMITED by not building.
-ZERO "character build" options; there is a "tech tree" of sorts where you find better materials over time; use those better materials or stay home. Those are basically THE options.
-There ARE dungeons, BUT...
-...They are all the same and provide no unique "loot". They are all just avenues to more/better crafting materials.
Hope it helps.

You could also look at Valheim Plus mod and other mods. We play a V+ server. It adds some more to the game plus other mods like enhanced loot, more variety of armor/weapons etc.
