I actually totally agree except you need wishbone from bonemass to get silver.

It's similar to fighting a troll. Except that it's highly resistant to piercing damage so arrows are a no-go for the most part. Gotto get up on it with a shield and axe/sword and try-hard it. You can parry it with a lvl 3 bronze buckler. It's tells for both of it's main attacks are pretty easy to read, but with only bronze weapons you'll be in for a fight. Remember to use healing mead and stamina potions if you need to.

It's a walking tree so at a guess i'd say fire arrows, or axes. I actually got all the way through several swamps and looted all the iron I needed without ever seeing one. I did eventually find one though (two actually) when I dragged an entire fulling village into a nearby swamp so I could pick them off while they chased swamp critters around. The goblins downed the abominations pretty fast.

It's a tree, right? How do you normally fell trees?

You should see one take on a Lox (spoiler - Lox won)

First of all, bring a slash weapon as it is resistant to both blunt and pierce. Sword is best but axe will do if you don't have one.
Stand right in front of its center and react to his attacks like this:
-stomp with its left leg- this attack will miss you so just get some free hits.
-stomp with the middle- parry it then retaliate with sword secondary attack (or jsut hit him with axe if you don't have a sword)
-swing with its right leg - parry and attack just like the middle stomp.
Alternatively you can kill it with fire arrows but it will take a while. You can abuse its crappy pathfinding.

The abomination would have been fine, but I took a few months off and just came back and not only did TWO abominations spawn but I got TWO wraiths a handful of skeletons, a few draugur some with stars, and a bunch of leaches chasing me in a circle. I have like 300 hours into this game as was clearing goblin towns with relative ease two moths ago. Now the swamp is kick my ass trying to help a noob get some iron?! WTF?!?!?!? Ridiculous!!!!

Start a new toon and you'll end up just as OP as you did before. You just need to unlearn some bad habits you learned in pre-H&H. Like stamina foods are WAY more important now; you can't just grab all the best health foods and be good to go. Also the combat changes take some getting used to. Stamina management is even more important in combat now.

Lol yea that sounds crazy. I think it's really awesome they are continuously adding stuff to the game. It's kinda why I play slow and casually. Don't wanna get burnt out before the game is finished.

Now as for killing the abomination. I have an ancient bark spear, iron armor and iron buckler. Of course have bronze axe too. If its resistant to pierce would the spear not be good?

Yeah, you're better off using the bronze axe

I think they need to tone it down a bit. I am all for a challenge but thinking along game progression I have a WAY easier time in mountains now than I do in the swamp. With the low vision, poison affects and heavy mob count swamps are just miserable to farm out of

Doesnt the poison resist potion help? I mean dont you always need the frost potion in the mountains?

Frost resist = no freezing dmg at all. Poison resist = less damage but you still take damage. But aside from that it is WAY easier to see and thus properly block/deflect attacks. and there arent NEARLY as many mobs to fight in the mountains. Not to mention the water everywhere in the swamp makes getting distance between you and your attackers difficult and if you splash into water you auto un-equip your weapons/shield.
Maybe its just me I dont know but I personally find it way easier and the jump in difficulty from black forest to swamp was already steep IMHO, now it feels astronomical.
Again, maybe its just me and my play style.

I had Iron armor and a wolf cape (my best gear is in the plains I think. I might have rage quit after getting killed by gobbos, woke up totally naked) but I made a black metal ax before I even went to the swamp. Hardly scratched the abomination. I did eventually recover my gear and kill the two abominations plus friends but it was an hours long ordeal. I am glad they have added some difficulty to the game, it was kind of WAY too easy before, this is seems like an overcompensation.
