Have you tried to get help for your crashing issues? I find the game to be very stable on my machine. Do you mod your game? Did you submit a support ticket/bug report for your issue? It´s a game that didn´t get any content added since launch. It´s a game that has stability issues and crashes often and devs ignore it 100%.
It´s a game where you grind like a madman for the next armor just to have the last one become obsolete and then after killing the fifth boss that´s it. No point in further playing.
No content at all besides some tools, weapons and armor.
Essentially the game is a waste of money from my point of view. I fell for the hype and regret it badly. By buying this gameI have supported devs who ignore technical/crashing problems and don´t add content in months worth of time (6 months now).
In terms of OP they already purchased the game 10 days ago, so you are a bit late with your advice.

Strange. I've played for 200 h, my friend over 600 h and we didn't have a single crash - except of crash on exit with heavily modded game (which isn't the fault of the game itself). It´s a game that didn´t get any content added since launch. It´s a game that has stability issues and crashes often and devs ignore it 100%.
More mature products should learn stability from this early access.

I can agree with one thing - game is quite barren at the moment, but this is normal in early access. On the other hand Valheim has great potential for new content. It just need time.

If ARK and RUST and 7 days to Die are too intense for you, then this is an option. It's kind of a 'Viking Malibu Barbie' game where you get to build your dream Viking home. The graphics are very retro, circa 1990 textures and whatnot, but that adds charm to the game.

It's a single-player / coop PVE game with tactical, rpg and survival elements.
You need to plan your actions carfully since dying will be punished heavily (you will lose 5% of you XP each time you die).
PvP is only possible against players who agreed and enabled this mode
Most servers are private because of griefers, so I suggest you playing either with some friends or solo.
But it's a great game, an I enjoyed it.

For me the game shines in multiplayer. It's a very relaxing mix of exploration, fighting, survival and building (to be honest, multiplayer building combined with resource gathering gives me the most fun, at least at the current stage of game creation).
Just remember that currently the game it's in EA and is quite barren, but you won't notice it during the first playthrough. You can always mod the game if feeling bored. I'm quite optimistic about future development, because there are many simple ways (from developer perspective) to make the game even more entertaining by simply adding the right stuff.

I suggest playing with a few friends to split up the tasks. But very fun single player as well. Just takes longer to build bases and find stuff needed to upgrade items. With a crew you can make a fall out base in no time at all and have all upgrades for the crafting tables in no time. Single player takes more planning, but just as rewarding if not more for doing all of the work yourself. Hope you're enjoying the game if you've already bought it.

Definitely not a raid game. It’s an amazing game honestly. The atmosphere is pretty genuine and comforting. Build, craft, hunt, sail etc…

First run I played with friends, second run I played solo, third and current run I'm playing with my eldest daughter and her boyfriend, might get the son to join us.
It's a fun game.

PvE. Think a less blocky Minecraft with Vikings and Bosses.
Be aware dying is punishing, so plan ahead and use caution.

PVE
You can enable friendly fire but most people keep that off and you can only enable it for yourself... you can't force anyone into PVP... If the game was forced PVP I wouldn't play it at all. That is what keeps me from playing most survival type games.
You can play solo just fine. This is not an MMO and severs with people are typically limited in number of players. Players can steal stuff and ruin things... most people play with friends on password secured servers. Probably the majority of the playerbase plays solo though... IDK just guessing, but it seems that way.
It isn't overly difficult once you learn it... but you can die a lot learning the game. So a lot of people don't consider it heavy into the survival aspect. It is more looter where you find resources and craft them for better gear to move on to the next area where you farm resources etc. Base building for crafting and defense.
The different, random world seeds I find great for replay value... I enjoy the exploration and finding logistically good locations for resources for making bases etc. For me it isn't about completing a game to just kill bosses. Once I explore and build up the world for the final boss I start a new world seed. You can have as many characters and worlds going as you please. You can also use characters on any of the worlds, they are individual saves separate from the world saves.
There is a tutorial raven.. if you get the game be sure to read his hints.

In short, this is primarily a singleplayer game. Multiplayer is somewhat underdeveloped and completely optional. And no, this game is definitely nothing like Rust but, then again, Rust multiplayer seems rather toxic and cheese, so I won't touch that game with a 10-foot pole. Valheim, on the other hand, is hugely fun.
Valheim is basically "Viking Minecraft" but intended for a slightly older player base (so building is a little more intricate and boss fights are more challenging, though not quite like Dark Souls even though Valheim bosses are often compared to Soulsborne bosses, in terms of how the fights are designed).
As you progress in the game, you transition from Stone weapons and tools, to Copper and Bronze, then Iron, and so forth. Fairly standard for these games. And for every "age", you gain access to better gear, new crafting stations, better support beams (stone pillars and iron beams will work as foundation for wooden pieces, decorations (furniture, tapestry, rugs etc) and more for your structures (which can support higher builds, give your home more comfort, etc).
There's a huge emphasis on food and managing your stamina (to a fault, in my opinion, albeit not enough to ruin my experience of the game). You'll also get raided by the current "tier" of enemies from time to time. It's not too hard and it's tied to the kind of boss that you're currently working towards. E.g. If you've killed the first boss Eikthyr (but before fighting The Elder), raids will change from wild Boars and "Necks" (salamanders) going rampant to Greydwarf raiding parties.
Finally, on a fun note, this game has one of the best tree-cutting dynamics around. When you cut down a tree, the tree actually turns into a trunk beam that falls in a certain direction. This trunk will deal major damage to anything it falls over, including you, your enemies or even other trees (sometimes resulting in a tree-felling chain reaction, which is huge fun to look at). I've never had as much fun doing something as banal as cutting down trees, as I've had in this game. So between tree cutting and other "grindy" stuff, the game actually doesn't feel very grindy at all.
This is absolutely worth checking out. But check out Youtube or similar to get some gameplay videos or w/e, to be sure. There's plenty of Valheim videos out there, as the game has already sold millions of copies (5+ million last time I heard from them).
