This is a survival game. One the features of the genre is you're not supposed to save scum. It's still possible (the game does save data locally after all) but the game does its best to always preserve its current state.

According to file dates, the game has no such autosave. Only (auto) worldsaves, like on every half hour, and a save on disconnecting. I'd be curious to know if the date of the last saved game in your save folder corrrespond the time when you Alt-F4ed.

The world only saves on certain conditions, but I think player data is constantly saved. I've had my server crash and my player will be where I left him with the inventory I left, but my world will have rolled back.
you don't understand lol. it was so bad I went to backups I had from 6 months ago for the world

it definitely does. try it, destroy or build some stuff in your world. close the game via alt f4 or task manager. your world will have saved what happened moments before

This is likely due to F4 causing the game to exit, which triggers a save.
