I used the simple expedient of turning off all the lights in the room. Makes a huge difference. I have a lighted keyboard, which helps.
Also, nighttime in the swamps is even darker. Not a good time to be there- besides the cold debuff stacking on the wet debuff, that's when the Wraiths come out to play.
