i'd say the difficulty is in your head. you can use troll to mine copper and tin for you. which will give you a pickaxe without killing 1st boss. then you can find scrap iron burried in a swamp even without a wishbone. hoe can help and it usually clips through edges of the biome if you're lucky. then you can either get silver or try your luck in iron4 armor. (unfortunately you can't wear padded cuz it requires killing moder)
