You don't need much flint so a trip or two picking flint should be enough for your entire playthrough. Avoid flint arrows, just use wood arrows.

Yeah I use flint for only the knife and upgrades and the tannin rack, and I'm missing one for the rack in my new base.

There is no way you can be that far away from a meadows biome. Trip along the coast will quickly give you a stack. You want to explore meadows anyway for honey and stuff.
