I did notice a rare room with a crack in the ceiling that can be bright as day. Otherwise it seems to vary a lot for me. I don't know if its your eyes adapting or if it somehow is reflective of 'how deep' the crypt is buried. I would just suggest to the OP to try a couple more and see if they are all like that.
