I just finished a raid with Trolls and had to take down at least 8. More running around hunting for feathers to make fire arrows for 4 days. There's no way I'm staying in the zone to get teamed up by Trolls and then if I do die have to run around trying to evade them to get my gear back.

You don't necessarily have to kill all the mobs during a raid, you just have to remain in the circle and avoid getting hit or lead the mobs around within the circle until the raid is over.

IF you can kill the mobs, then by all means do so, but If you can't, then just keep moving until the 2 minutes is up, then lead the baddies away, or run away and go find a place to pass time, and (hopefully) give the mobs a chance to clear out.
