They already have - magic staffs, annoying mist. They could at least leave something for miners/blacksmiths, and i'm not talking about carapace armor because it's more like fenrir/abomination type, and it's incredibly awful compared to padded set.

Yeah carapace armor is iron set with a few teaks, basically it feels worse than padded or wolf. I, too, wanted a new ore type or atleast an alternate source for Iron.
And more weapons in general (no staves).
