1. You can tame wild animals (Boars, Wolves, and Lox) and have them follow and fight for you.

I don't think Boars do much fighting, but Wolves and Lox are very devastating to have on your side. You can even make a Saddle for the Lox and ride it around.

2. You can name them, yes, but character customization is limited to a handful of options. (Male, Female, Hair Styles, Facial Hair Styles)
