Yeah, gucody, it's just that getting other people to do what you want them to do online is *really* annoying, and auto-loot is a "fair enough" way to decide who gets to craft/progress through stuff they want to do *first* (because, at least with my group, you "own" what you pick up first) -- if that makes any sense.
So, convincing someone to give that up (while spear throwers *SHOULD* keep auto-loot on for the most enjoyable combat experience) is hard.
Also, I just think this should be a feature of the game. I think *MANY* quality of life mods should be a part of the source code, but this, in particular, I think is an oversight that eliminates a weapon category in many group scenarios and can be solved somewhat easily by the devs, in my view.

"I think a quick and simple fix would be: the throwing player can pick it up like normal, but other players have to press the interact key. This allows allies to retrieve it for you intentionally if needed, but they won't end up accidentally stealing it in the middle of a fight." -- Yeah, that might work better, good suggestion.
