Eh, rare creatures are the only RNG that I wouldn't feel comfortable with for that kind of run. You can be more than capable of handling an area. Block force and block armour works against the locals and you parry every time. You can take plenty of hits too just in case because you have good food buffs.

Then suddenly you get a pack 1-2 star creatures on you out of nowhere because you rolled the reverse lottery. Each one of them takes 75% of your health away in one attack and knockback stun you even when you parry. So running out of stamina before getting to some cheese spot is the check whether you die or not usually.

My first perma death run I got kind of portal crazy.

Always had a portal within running range for escape.. just extend out making a chain of portals ha ha... that got old fast as I became more accustomed to threat levels.. my biggest enemy by far was a tree killing me early on.
