My friend, if you are losing your gear over and over in the same way, I don't think it's a problem with the game... the problem is your approach to the game. There's a lesson trying to be learned and you're ignoring it. LOL

But no fear, the setting you crave is coming in a future update.

Except if you lose all your gear deep in the swamp and the only way to get it back is to run and get lucky, or spend time crafting new gear and food to increase your odds, but then if your inventory was full, you won't be able to quickly pick it up, thus meaning you'll have to fight the gauntlet to get the rest of your stuff back. This feature is a nightmare. Maybe it's good for minecraft, but not this game. It turns a 3 hour play session into 6 hours with increased anxiety and cursing.
If you keep losing all your gear deep in the swamp, you weren't prepared to go deep into the swamp. Bring lots of poison resist meads and consume one before you enter the swamp (consuming it after you are poisoned provides no benefit). Poison resist mads make leeches, blobs, and oozers trivial to handle.

For the first time in the swamp you explore the outskirts and pin any features that you want to explore later. You are looking for your first turnip seeds (slightly glowing yellow flowers). Once you get them you return to your base and plant and reseed them several times to expand your stocks. (This will take several game days). Then you upgrade your food station and cook up some of the new and better foods. Use those new foods and more poison resist meads to venture a little farther into the swamps and farm draugrs and leeches for drops.

Take those drops back to your base and make even better foods and medium healing meads. When you have sufficient you'll be ready to explore further into the swamps and attempt your first crypt. Make sure that you build a temp portal near the crypt so that you can recover your gear quickly if you get killed.

Edit - if you don't want to (or don't know how to) use dev commands you can always ask someone that has a character with better gear to escort you through to your grave stone.
