I've had two lox at my HQ in the meadows, they were eating alright, but wouldn't get into mating; maybe I was just too impatient, but after 5 in-game days of sticking around with no sibling, I called it off; my lox breeding farm in the plains is doing good so far, so it seems to be an issue where they are...
Equip one (or both) with a saddle. This way, you can ride one over to the other one, and throw food in front of them at the same time, if they are both hungry, they will both eat. Make sure they are very close standing next to each other, and keep any other pet wolves or boars away from them, (even though they are all non hostile to each other) as they (somehow) count towards the Lox breeding radius area, you need a lot of room for them to breed.
I simply fix the overlapping breeding radius by letting my boars breed in a seperate secured pen, and my wolves breed in the wild, and kill any wandering deer or necks for me, so this way they can self sustain themselves with little effort on my part.
I have an open area in my veggie garden at my main fort, and always keep 2 lox there for breeding. I have a box of cloudberries nearby too that I keep outside for them.
Also just a quick disclaimer, the little lox calfs sometimes can wonder into double doorways and just let themselves in sometimes, so make sure you close your doors when you go out to feed them, or fence the area off so they don't wander off, Otherwise you could come back to a fully grown Lox stomping around in your house, lol.
Good luck with the breeding.
