Not everything has to drop loot--it's an adversary in the crypt, potentially a tougher one before you're geared up a little. Just adds to the challenge of clearing a burial chamber at early levels. Those and the starred skeletons give you a good fight when you have low level gear. The reward is not the loot drop but clearing the chamber of adversaries so you can find cores and other items (money/gems) in the chambers.
