Wich even have to point towards the embers of the forge, to work, which makes perfect sense tbh.
Other upgrades can be put below ground, works fine with floors between them.

Just like rl, the game doesn't adapt to all we'd like to build and place, and in all honesty, if you feel like getting ressources for a second whatever is a chore, get ready for a lot of chores.

The Adze, which is a woodworking station and upgrade for the workbench requires that it be built near the forge as well, which makes no sense. The very fact that people are suggesting workarounds by building and then deleting things only proves that it's a completely pointless mechanic that doesn't need to be in the game, which was the point of the post. It's early access, there's a tiny chance they might actually listen. Even the wiki makes the recommendation to just build and delete an extra forge because there's zero reason for that requirement. They should just remove the requirement.

No, people suggesting something doesn't mean there is a problem, if that was the case, the game needs attack helicopters and Pokemon, because people have suggested it. People have also suggested workarounds for everything from combat to traveling to leveling to well everything, so by your rationale everything in the game is a pointless mechanic.
You can literally claim anything and everything is "a pointless mechanic".
Needing tools near your workstation or a sufficient isn't a novel or far fetched concept, and it's a far more forgiving system to simply have them near then having to actually have to use each expansion. It's very easy to adjust to the mechanic, to build a properly sized workspace.
