If you mean trading between players, nothing about that would be illegal. If your friend happens to get ahold of a weapon you really want and you have a treasure trove they are willing to trade it for, go right ahead. The only real use for gold/treasure in the actual game is selling it off to Haldor (the merchant NPC you can eventually find) for unique items you generally can't find elsewhere in the world. In some ways that can make such a trade a great deal since Haldor does sell exclusive items, but it also means there's really only a limited number of things you have available to buy from him and some only unlock after certain points in progression and not many need to be bought repeatedly. So overall, another player's perspective on the current worth of gold to them can vary wildly but if you can both agree on a price there shouldn't be a problem.

Trading in games normally only becomes illegal, in an actual legal sense, when you sell things external of the game in unapproved ways, such as selling your entire account to another player on certain games. I'm not sure any of those situations would even apply in Valheim.
yea, that's what i mean. like the usual rpg stuff where the npc sells weapons for gold. i wanna be that type of npc.
