I agree, it's the worst implementation of auto walk ever. Valheim allows you to free look around with your mouse instead of steering your character. It is a half-baked feature... made by a person who does not game much, if any. Your mouse should be tied directly to steering, with perhaps a shift-control key combo that allows free look.
