Do you get up to loading the map and it seems to freeze on the black loading screen?

If so, then you need to be patient. The current version takes a looooooooong time to create new maps or update existing maps to a newer setup (as low as 3 and as much as 10 minutes have been reported so far). If you click the mouse or press a key while it's doing so, Windows will get confused and think that the game has frozen, throwing a "Ths program has stopped responding" error. Just let the game finish its work and don't touch anything until it does.

The good news, though, is that after a given map has been processed as above, it will load more quickly from there on out - generally about 5-30 seconds, depending on how much material is in the area you'll be spawning in at and how powerful your system (mostly what kind of drive you're using) is.
