you really need to jump on the ones that are close to shore, in a place where you can still use attacks and that the water doesn't go above your waist.

Then quickly punch them out, you gotta have the timing right, since the buggers are quite guick to get away

If you managed to hit them, one hit should do the trick.

I do agree that it is silly that you cannot use spears or bow+arrows to hit them.

But thats just how it is.
