Actually they are not. There are many games out there that seem to have issues with the latest hardware. Someone with a card a year or two older will run the game very well and then a new card for whatever reason is lagging terribly.

Yup. My wife's computer which is an AMD 6300 BE with a 4GB GPU runs cleaner than my Ryzen 5 2600 with an 8GB GPU. Cleaner as in less heat gen, less energy usage, etc. Of course, my game looks a bit better if you focus on the details, but ultimately, might as well be the same or similar at a glance. My FPS range is also wilder than hers. Mine runs anywhere from 29 to 62 FPS, while hers run from 22 to 42 ish FPS.

Just adding onto your comment, the newer GPU's tend to go through many hiccups as well coinciding how Valheim uses the Unity engine. I surmise it's primarily an Unity engine issue.
