Your questions are difficult for us to answer for simply one important reason: we're not you.

Of course there are things you have to learn and many of those are through experiential learning(ie you learn from experience). Being that this is a survival based genre game, challenges are there and death(which is frequent for players as a whole) is meant to be part of that learning experience.

Whether that matches or doesn't match you and your wants, we just simply cannot say.

If you're unsure of your capacity to learn how to play or accept challenges with how to play, my best suggestion is for your to go to Youtube and watch the multitudes of let's play style videos and see if its for you.
