Games in EA can vary dramatically in their development time. Subnautica took several years and turned out to be a great game, but during EA the same things were posted by early adopters; why does it take so long, is this game dead, we should get more content than we are, etc.

So for some people a good approach is to delete the game from their library, put it on 'follow' and just wait until its done (whenever that might be) and then play the V 1.0 release. This approach also helps players avoid the need to adapt to changes in mechanics the game might undergo in EA.

And no, funding does not directly equate to sped up development schedules. Just look at Star Citizen.
