TLDR is was confused why hot tub kept sputtering on/off with only very short periods of max comfort 17 with all items build.

Did not realize needed chimney ventilation like fireplace because in many comfort videos I've seen, they just plopped the hot tub in middle of room with no ventilation.

Had to play around quite a bit because (for me) the chimney needed is not as intuitive as for campfire or hearth designs. Really tried lots of trial and error how to position it in wood or stone rooms with enough chimney over it but not covering up the round hot tub part where you sit.
