Cart is your best friend when hauling Silver off the mountain.
That said, it's easier to travel with the materials for a Cart, when you know you're going to need it.. like, on the Mountains! When I was hauling Silver, I just filled the cart with nothing but Silver and yeeted it off the mountainside.
It was sturdy enough to survive, though it did need repairs.. so I also had a partial stack of Wood on hand to build a makeshift repair hut for a Workbench, to repair the Cart and my Hammer if need be.
Worst part, though, was dragging the thing by foot across terrain. I ended up having to drag it near a shore, drop a Workbench to prevent spawns, run out of rendering range towards my base, jump in the ol' Longboat, and make a trip out there to transfer the Silver to the boat, break down the Cart, and head back.
Kinda annoying, but it is what it is sometimes. At least I snagged a Serpent on that trip.
