what a nice thing to do LOL even pixel critters need some love.
id likely do similar if i found one in the same situation.
timing seems, from the 2 characters ive made and played fairly consistent. raids happen after certain amount of game time giving you time to have at least built a camp.
i dont know about most but i waste a lot of time exploring first before deciding on home.
my next start with hearth and home ill try to cut that short some and at least make a solid base camp for the first boss.
