If you weren't too far advanced in the game, I say it is always advisable to start over again. You can still use the same seed, if you liked your old map. This also has the advantage of not having to deal with an immense amount of old terrain modification data, that will slow down your game when you are at these areas.

That said, you should be perfectly able to just load your old character and world and continue from where you left off. You just might not be able to get some the new additions that came with Hearth and Home, as well as the Ice Caves. You should also run at least once the "optterrain" command from the console when in these areas.

It is highly recommended to completely uninstalling the game and manually(!) deleting the game folder (if necessary), then re-installing the game, to avoid crashing issues that some players reported.

Welcome back to Valheim!

Hello!

I appreciate your respond, it's unfortunate that my old saved game won't be having the Hearth and Home and the Ice Caves.

Can you educate me more about this "optterrain" command? What does it do?
