I play with Xbox controller myself and I agree with this. I still use the mouse when I am in the inventory, as it is more convenient, but you can do with the controller only without any trouble.

To sum it up, for a game in such early phase, the controller control are pretty fine. The only thing I think is needed would be a better way to navigate in your equipped items. A radial menu would be totally awesome. I guess it will come at some point.
