I've shut down numerous times by restarting my computer or with task manager (ending process). Every time it revered to the most recent auto save ("World save in 30").

1300 hours I have yet to endure a corrupted save file. I don't even think I've suffered a crash.

Well it is great when nothing goes wrong and my game has been solid with cloud save on... that said there is no denying that it "can" cause problems.. even causing games to vanish from steam... or the game is still installed but steam does not recognize it as being there.
Issues like that are always caused by improper shutdown/ sync.
