Noone really knows what caused this in this case.

It could be poor connection of op or his friend. It could be a fart in the connectevity because the provider has some maintenance to do or repairs. It could be simply his game crashing.

Without any further info like logs there is no point in accusing the devs for anything. I for example never had any disconnects when I played with friends. Not a single time and we played hours upon hours.

It´s btw the first time I read about this. If this were a universal problem you would see many bug report threads popping up but it doesn´t seem to be a problem for most of us.
