Iron armor - iron weapons
Root armor -bronze weapons
troll armor - anything left up
The only thing that OP should be lacking is a decent shield for troll armor but otherwise that's backup, and backup for that.

Those mountains can be menacing! Just taking my first steps there myself. No onions, silver, golems nor obsidian but 2 good eggs
Have done many naked corpse runs, some of them actually paid off. With sausages, deer meat, honey and eikthyr power one can do some daring dashes into mountains before the cold really gets to you.
Just don't use the same teleport every time, specially if a wolf was on your scent as you teleported out because chances are that he will be waiting for you
