Agreed, but optimally, if your feeling brave, dip a toe into the plains and try to get the padded armor.

Dip a toe in? Find Flax, presumably at an encampment, clear all of the enemies, take the flax, then go and construct a farm base to grow more of it, then... oh wait, processing the flax requires the killing of Moder.

How exactly would you recommend using items that necessitate Moder dying before killing Moder?
