When building with stone, one can place core-wood vertical poles IN THE GROUND first, to greatly increase vertical stability. Placing core-wood poles right inside the stone (place the poles, then the stone right into the core-wood), is an amazing stablilizer and more economical than ironwood beams, but iron reinforced beams & poles are the best. One has to make sure the vertical support beams are entering the ground, and not just resting on flooring.
