No! Does that unlock a different building material? I just finished up the Mountains after carting an entire wagon of silver back, and am now exploring the plains.

Plains. Yes. Just a matter of time finding tar pits. Just be careful. The enemies spawning there can delete you pretty quick if you dont understand their trick and gimmick.
