I spotted two wolves, one i killed with bow from sneak, but the other one saw me. Well, instead of pressing key 3 (knife), I accidentally pressed 4 (axe). I blocked its blow, but the axe is slow. So I hit the wolf only once and then I didn't have enough time to switch to the knife. RIP. Fortunately, I'm close to the base ...
