You aren't supposed to get hit often by Moder. You avoid her ranged attacks while in the air, and when she lands you keep range and spam arrow attacks. Moder hits like a truck in any armor so you should ideally avoiding melee range. It's very doable. If you are struggling with the fight, then that's what the upgrades are there for, to make it easier.
