I build all sort of bases.. half the fun the game. I have not built in mistlands but just finished off the queen so thats my next challenge. My "mistlands base" was on an island with a small plains and huge mistlands and a black forest. I built a base in the black forest and never was bothered. Portals are the way to go. Have fun with it.
