I'd like to respectfully disagree with this point. I wasn't a big fan of swamps so I mined enough to summon bonemass, killed it in bronze gear, went to mountains and geared to wolf gear while skipping iron. Not claiming it to be the best route but mountains are perfectly survivable in bronze.
